Bruce Lorimer

Managing Director

Bruce is qualified in Engineering Surveying and Geographic and Land Information Systems and has over 29 years’ experience working in Local Governments in Western Australia and is currently Managing Director of Core Business Australia.
 

Bruce has held various senior management / engineering roles including Director of Business Units (Shire Engineer) for the Shire of Bridgetown-Greenbushes, Director Community Infrastructure for the Shire of Busselton and more recently, Chief Executive Officer for the Bunbury-Harvey Regional Council.  His career has focussed heavily on project, operational, organisational and strategic management of public infrastructure.
 

Bruce was the Project Superintendent on behalf of the Shire of Busselton on the construction of the Busselton Underwater Observatory.  Bruce has also provided Contract Management Training on behalf of EEI (the education and training arm of Engineers Australia).
 

Bruce has acted in the role of expert witness on behalf of clients in the State Administrative Tribunal (SAT).
 

Bruce's consulting career has involved rolling out the Western Australian Asset Management Improvement (WAAMI) Program on behalf of the Western Australian Local Government Association (WALGA).  The WAAMI Program assists local governments with asset management including writing asset management plans, policy and strategy, undertaking asset condition reviews, undertaking organisational reviews, undertaking service reviews including delivery of waste management services, undertaking community consultation and strategic plan preparation.

Bruce is a qualified Internal Quality Auditor.
 

Bruce is a Fellow of the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia (IPWEA) and has served on the State Executive on two occasions including 2010 – 2015.  Bruce is formerly the Chair of IPWEA’s WA Asset Management Committee WA proxy representative on IPWEA’s National Asset Management Strategy Committee (NAMS.AU).  Bruce is also a member of the IPWEA's South West Executive

Michelle Roberts

Strategic Resource Management (SRM) Manager

Michelle holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Industrial Psychology, is a strategic recruiting professional and leads our Core SRM team.

 

Michelle has a broad range of experience at finding critical leadership talent within the mining, agricultural and tertiary sectors with extensive experience working in talent advice and acquisition across several industries for over 15 years.

Prior to joining Core SRM, Michelle has supported the strengthening of organisations such as Curtin University and Fortescue Metals Group through executive level and leadership selection, evaluation, transition and succession.

Robert Hubbard

Work Health and Safety Support Officer

Rob is the WHS Support Officer for Core Business Australia and provides WHS support and training to our local government and private sector clients. Rob holds a Diploma in Work Health & Safety, ICAM Lead Investigator, Lead Auditor and holds Certificate IVs in Leadership and Management and in Security Management.

Rob has worked in both State Government as a Police Officer and the recourses sector as a Work Health and Safety Advisor, supporting the safe completion of large capital works projects such a Solar farm, a large Windfarm and shutdown projects across the Pilbara and Great Southern.

Rob’s Key Skills include.

  • WHS Team Support – Rob has a very good approach to building team support and buy-in to WHS and supporting staff through the WHS journey to help improve WHS compliance and importantly with the aim of keeping everyone safe and able to go home at the end of the day.

  • Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment – Rob has extensive experience inworking with teams to identify hazards and risks within the work environment and developing practical mitigation measures to eliminate or minimise risks to acceptable levels.

  • Incident Investigations and Reports – Where incidents or accidents occur in the workplace, Rob is very experienced and trained in investigating incidents / accidents and identifying contributing factors and then developing mitigation measures to help avoid future occurrences of similar incident/accidents.

  • KPIs and Reporting – It’s difficult to manage what you don’t know so Rob is very experienced in working with Managers and key WHS personnel to set up simple KPI’s and reporting.

Rob joined Core Business Australia in early 2024 to further his passion for supporting organisations and people through the WHS journey. In addition to his WHS experience, his experience as a Police Officer is invaluable in helping Rob to communicate with and build good rapport support people from all walks of life.
